So yeah, permanent free-to-play oldschool is finally out and I decided to give it a shot. I remember when it first came out but I was not ready to invest any more money into ANY variation of runescape at that point so I held off but finally it became F2P.
I got off to a rather bad start. The Runescape site was acting up, taking forever to respond. I found out on my oldest account my display name was freed up as it was inactive and someone took it, how disappointing. The other thing was that I got stuck with the default bot look on my main because I promptly logged out after logging in to investigate what was the deal with my oldest account not having a display name. Petty inconveniences aside, it was relaxing just logging in and hearing the
crap wonderful music. Didn't even complete tutorial island on my first session (19th) and then quickly finished it off to join everyone in the
Hide and Seek Event (21st) just to have some fun. Will I stick around? Who knows, seems like a decent way to kill time, which I seem to have both loads and none of. Seems like more of a cool down and relaxing thing to do just to sit around and enjoy the grind fest but otherwise I think I'll continue to mainly stick in the realm of Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike etc as it is a bit more engaging for me.
