Starting 2-15-10:
Looks like we're moving the day, but not the time at this point.

Next week (2-15-10) we'll be starting PC-Gaming on Monday at the same times we currently have (6PM PST, 8PM CST, 9PM EST, 2AM UTC/England)

Time looks like it probably won't get changed. It's just too much of an issue with North America, moving back a few hours interfered with nearly everyone's dinner schedules, and later usually isn't an option seeing as it won't help anyone.

Until further notice, we're playing Counter-Strike: Source, with the GunGame mod. Same server information, just look up the IP under your Favorites tab, and add the appropriate servers.

Come play Half Life 2: Death Match (HL2:DM) with all of your friends from Rsbandb! Have a problem with someone? Try shooting them in the head! If you've wanted to test out your PC gaming skills, you'll be right at home ;)
NOTE - For the week of Aug 26th, this event will be replaced by CS:S - Gun Game. Please check the other topic for details.
***As a special thing this week, the 'winner' will get a Guest Pass to Madballs in.. Babo Invasion. I got the game a few weeks back, and got a guest pass... So I've gotta get rid of it before the 19th!***

Also, congrats to our first PC Gaming 'Winner', Directxfire! You will recieve a guest pass to Madballs in.. Babo Invasion. Please be sure to add Pfkninenines on Steam to receive the guest pass. If you do not want the guest pass, you may pick who you'd like me to send it to.

Also, one last Humble Indie Bundle will be given away.

Since you can't buy guest passes to any game, I can't say we'll always have (or even often have) a prize. But, I have recently come into a few codes for a 6 pack of games. They're Windows, Mac, and Linux, so literally anyone use them. I've got 4 unique codes, so we'll have to determine who gets them. They're not through Steam, though, and that's the only downside. At any rate, I've currently got around 5 codes to give away. More news as to when/how they'll be distributed to come.

NOTE - Day has been changed to Monday to hopefully get more people to show up. Two were in attendance for the first day, and unfortunately weekends aren't exactly the best for me either.. Soo we're back to Mondays! Please note, however, we're at the new time of one hour later than in previous times.

The mod chosen is GoldenEye Source (GE:S). Please go to http://www.goldeneyesource.net/ for more information, and for the client download. Use the guide found here for the installation process. From my experience, just run the client .exe file, and it should install. Restart Steam (I'd begin the process with Steam off, then start the program after the installation), and try to launch GE:S. You'll (probably) be unsuccessful, and it will say you need to download the SDK. It should begin to download automatically. Once finished, you should have a working copy of GE:S.

SORRY!! The CSS server is misbehaving, so we'll be doing TF2 this week. We'll have a week of no-voting this coming week, and do CSS for January 2nd 2012.

We'll be doing it one more time as last week I was sick and heard the event wasn't all too great. Let's change that. Voting resumes Wednesday for next week.

Remember -- Please vote for your available Day + Time combos in this thread.

We have added CSS back to the poll, so if it is chosen we will do our best to get it running for the event if chosen.

Please vote for upcoming PC Gaming Event changes (choose your top two). Please leave a comment if you have any specific reasons regarding your vote.

**NOTE** The results are for my use, not necessarily what will guide the exact path of the changes. The goal is to allow it to fit my schedule (leading the event, after all), and hopefully allow the attendance of many community members. But, just because midnight on Tuesday would be a perfectly fine time for me, I won't change the event to that schedule.

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch (HL2DM) can be downloaded from Steam with a valid account for free supposing the user is on a computer with an ATI or NVIDIA graphics card. If you are unsure of your graphics card manufacturer, you can use the free utility GPU-Z to determine if you qualify for the offer.

If you don't want to wait on map downloads the night of the game, get your maps early from the links provided below. If you do not wish to download these separately, no worries. The Rsbandb PC Gaming server has a fast download for all maps, ensuring that even if you don't pre-download maps, you'll get them quickly if the server contains a map you don't have. Follow Shane's instructions below to make use of these downloads.

EDIT - 1-3-11 - Please post any games you'd like to see on the voting rotation here after reading the requirements. I'll be putting a poll up next week with a few options.

ALSO - Please comment with any new games that fit the following few criteria:
1) Low Price (HL2:DM is very popular likely due to the price of FREE)
2) Must have a server runnable on our Linux based server
3) Must be playable by 15+ users at once, so something like L4D would be out.
4) ?

Also, CS:GO will be offered once we get the kinks worked out. Almost there!

Please choose the top two days as well as the top two times you'd be able to attend an event. We've been having very poor turnouts in terms of voting as well as event-attendance, and with the 5th year anniversary coming up, it'd be nice to have a bit of a revival.

Also, if the games are no longer of interest, please let me/us know. I've tried a few other games recently, and will try to fit in a few more in the coming weeks. Just Cause 2: Multiplayer seems a bit too chaotic and disorganized, but I'm open to other ideas. We're not so much limited to the server any longer, so as long as the game can support 6+ players, I'll give it a shot.

Also, if you could comment as to days/times, that'd be pretty cool too. Otherwise, we'll just rely on the vote to show the answer.

I have some maps for you all to download. Make sure you have them before you come to the server as it will greatly speed things up ;)

Download the maps here: http://209.160.21.177/rsbandb_maps_1.zip

You will then want to extract them into your maps folder. This is usually located at: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\[your username]\half-life2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps

Please note the actual bsp files must be in this folder. The simplest way to accomplish this is to just open the zip file using Windows Explorer and drag the contents to your map folder.

Had a low turnout for the first event, what gives guys? Would anyone be more likely to show up if it was a Team Fortress 2 event instead? I know there are people here with TF2 installed, so there isn't any reason to suggest it's too expensive.

If you'd show up in a few weeks, but you didn't this time, could you please say why?

I attended the inaugural event a few months back, but I don't think I'll attend religiously, for the main reason, as Pfkninenines stated, that I'm just too wrapped up in Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead. We do need to do a TF2 event, if it's an issue of a server you can borrow mine...

I wouldn't mind it being a different day, especially during the summer. The only problem I have is during the school year since I usually have exams Thursday nights. The event tends to be after any exam would end, so it tends to have worked out.

If moving it to Wednesday would help, that'd be fine by me. This summer I'm taking a course and I have exams every Friday... Needless to say, Thursdays aren't great for me anymore.

Nobody showed up for the TF2 events. We had a good turnout the first week because a ton of other people not from BNB joined. If people want a certain event, they actually need to show up for it. We went back to HL2:DM because we always got a better turnout, and it's free for nearly everyone who wants to play.

Point of the matter is, don't ask for it if you aren't going to show up.
